WHAT IS A DETAILED DESIGN DRAWING?

We take the approved concept design and develop it into a meticulously detailed technical package that often encompasses other consultant’s design information within accurate construction drawings to facilitate the construction process and achieve the necessary technical compliances for the project.

In many cases we work as lead consultant within a wider design team to ensure all specifications, plans, schedules and components are coordinated into the design in the most appropriate way to achieve the best result for our client’s project.

Fire Reinstatement
Private Residence – Hampshire

Working in conjunction with our Building Surveying colleagues, we provided a suite of working drawings for the reinstatement of a family home, following a devastating fire.

As part of the process we were required to prepare compliance drawings for the reinstatement works to achieve Building Regulations consent, as well as to achieve competitive prices for the works through a tender process.

New Houses, Central Winchester

We were engaged by a main contractor under a Design and Build contract for the preparation of a detailed design package of drawings for 3No. New houses on a tricky plot in central Winchester.

In addition to the complexities offered by the site, with archaeological remains to protect which impacted upon the foundation design, the lack of working space also required our team to work collaboratively with the main contractor to design the buildings in such a way that construction could be programmed to build out from the rear of the site.

We achieved Building Regulations and warranty provider compliance, co-ordinating input from third party designers and contractors to ensure the design liability of the contractor was discharged through the contract and CDM Regulations.

Listed Building Extension and Remodelling – East Hants

We were engaged by a private client to prepare drawings relating to the alteration, extension, repair and refurbishment of a Grade II Listed building in central Petersfield. The project required a detailed measured survey of the existing building, as no record drawings were available as a baseline position. This was vital in securing Listed Building and Planning consent for the scheme.

The drawings required a significant amount of design detailing, as a requirement of the Conservation Officer, who approved a contemporary single storey addition as a juxtaposition statement between the original house and the modern extension. We worked closely with structural and services consultants to ensure that all third party input was carefully coordinated.
